Scientists have announced the discovery of an Earth-like planet orbiting the nearest-by star, Proxima Centauri. Proxima b is believed to have a surface temperature which would allow for liquid water – and therefore life.

At 4.22 light-years away, it would take seven days to reach Proxima Centauri at Warp Factor Six, the cruising speed of the Starship Enterprise. Here’s how that compares to journey times to other Earth-like planets.
