In October the Aberdeenshire-based craft-beer company BrewDog announced it had achieved “the world’s most successful equity crowdfunding raise”. Over 12 months, the brewer had attracted £26.2 million from some 50,000 investors, obliterating its original target of £10 million in equity to expand its operations. Inspired, in DG #33 we looked at some of the less appealing business plans competing with BrewDog for attention and shareholders in the crowdfunding world in recent times. Surprisingly, it turned out that many of these – even the inflatable floating coffin concept – weren’t exactly dead in the water…
