In issue #40 of Delayed Gratification we’ve published a fascinating long form feature about the explosion that destroyed the port of Beirut and the surrounding area on 4th August 2020. Journalist Daisy Mohr, who arrived at the area affected by the blast within 20 minutes of it taking place, tells the stories of those affected and how they’ve started to rebuild their lives and their city in the months since. One of the most moving testimonies is from Tommy Tabib, whose bar near the port was left in ruins by the explosion and who narrowly escaped with his life. Below you can see some footage from Tommy’s bar around the time of the explosion: buy the issue to read the full story.
