Celebrity Tree Count: November’s showbiz news

In each issue of Delayed Gratification, we track the flimsiest showbiz stories in a given month and calculate approximately how many trees were pulped to bring them to the world. Here’s the final analysis on November’s gossip, from Snoop Dogg’s new sock venture (one tree) to Beyoncé and Jay Z’s basketball game smalltalk (25 trees).

This infographic was taken from issue #17 of Delayed Gratification, which is available in our shop.

How it works: We measured the amount of paper used for each story and multiplied it by the latest audited circulation of the publication and the GSM (grammes per square metre) of the paper to discover the overall weight. Environmental impact estimates were then made using the Environmental Paper Network Paper Calculator Version 3.2, factoring in the specific paper type of each publication. All estimates are approximate and rounded to the nearest tree.
