The great divide: North and South Korea compared

The eyes of the world have been focused on Pyongyang in recent weeks as the war of words between Donald Trump and North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un has escalated.

In DG #26 we published a series of infographics on the Korean peninsula to help explain how we reached this moment of crisis. We examined the lasting impact of the Korean War, the unusual landscape of the DMZ, the extraordinary Kim family tree and over 50 years of quarrels and skirmishes, among many other surprising facts and figures. And we looked at the numbers that show some vast differences between the two Koreas (see below).

This infographic was published in DG #26. Pick up a copy in our online shop or take out an annual subscription with promotion code ‘SLOWPOST’ and you’ll get the issue for free.
