The birth of Sampler
We’re very pleased that DG has been confirmed as one of the first magazines lined up to go on the fantastic new Sampler.
Sampler is a service that’s been cooked up by the people behind Stack, the subscription that sends you a brilliant new independent magazine each month.
It’s a simple idea but a smart one. Sign up for free and once a week Sampler will give you the opportunity to buy an excellent independent magazine at a 10% discount, with free postage. Only 100 copies of each mag will be on sale and when they’re gone, they’re gone.
It’s a sort of flash sale for indie titles, a neat mechanism for introducing people to mags from around the world that otherwise wouldn’t get on their radar. It’s a really nice way to cut out the middle man and get magazine makers and magazine lovers interacting directly.
There’s a lot more innovation like this happening in independent mags, as people grapple with the fact that the mechanics of the magazine industry – distribution, subscription services, advertising, marketing – are still almost exclusively geared up for mass market titles, despite the fact that most of the growth in magazines is coming from the indie sector.
Sign up for free here and you’ll be emailed with your first chance to buy a discounted Sampler mag on Thursday.
